Almirante Manuel Blanco Encalada Fire Company Receives New Uniforms on Its 160th Anniversary
The donation from the CSAV Foundation aims to recognize the long-standing service and history of one of the oldest fire brigades in the country.

The 160th-anniversary ceremony of the “Bomba Almirante Manuel Blanco Encalada” was held at the Naval Maritime Museum, where the CSAV Foundation donated 75 new uniforms to the company’s members in recognition of their extensive service in protecting the city of Valparaíso.
Officially founded on January 9, 1865, as Valparaíso’s Fourth Fire Company, the institution adopted its current name in 1872 in honor of former President and Navy Admiral Manuel Blanco Encalada for his service to the country.
During the ceremony, the volunteers received and showcased their new uniforms, marking an important milestone for the company. The “Manuel Blanco Encalada Fire Company” thus reaffirms its commitment to Valparaíso, highlighting its history of dedication and bravery.
This contribution allows the institution to preserve its traditions and strengthen its service identity. The delivery of these uniforms symbolizes recognition of the effort and dedication of those who make up this historic company, one of the oldest in Chile.
María Elena Palma, director of the CSAV Foundation, emphasized that “the delivery of these uniforms, along with contributions from other institutions, represents both recognition and gratitude for the Company’s work. Their history and experience contribute to improving the quality of service in Valparaíso and strengthening the safety of its residents.”
