CSAV Foundation holds conference on digital well-being and cyberbullying at Padre André Coindre School in San Antonio

On November 5, the CSAV Foundation organized a day of talks at Padre André Coindre School in San Antonio, in collaboration with Daniel Halpern, digital media and wellbeing expert at EducomLab.

Targeted to parents, teachers, administrators, teaching assistants and students from fifth to eighth grade, the activity was designed to promote emotional well-being in a digital environment.

At the event, Halpern addressed key issues about balancing tech use and socio-emotional health, emphasizing the importance of “digital hygiene” to healthily coexist in an increasingly connected world. One of the central themes was cyberbullying and its serious consequences on mental health, alerting students how to identify and respond to online bullying and discussing the impact of excessive technology on self-esteem, anxiety and interpersonal relationships.

The talk also reflected on other negative effects of intensive technology use, such as sedentary lifestyles, attention deficit and diminished ability to interact in the real world.

María Elena Palma, director of the CSAV Foundation, highlighted the importance of opportunities like this: “These talks come from a concern expressed by the educational community and seek to open up space for conversation and mutual learning. It is important to learn about socio-emotional health and responsible technology use to build a better school community.”

The day-long activity underscored the CSAV Foundation’s commitment to the integral development of San Antonio’s youth, addressing issues that contribute to their emotional well-being and safe and healthy interaction with the digital world.
