More than 700 Students Benefit from CSAV Foundation Project at Padre André Coindre School

The complete renovation of the gymnasium will provide the school with a new gathering space for sports, recreational, and cultural activities.

August 8, 2024 – Students, their parents, and local authorities celebrated the completion of the renovation of the covered gymnasium at Padre André Coindre School, located in the Bellavista sector (San Antonio). The project, which will benefit nearly 700 students from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade, included a total roof renovation and the installation of new facilities for various sports and cultural activities.

The initiative, led by the CSAV Foundation (Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores Foundation), had a cost of 100 million pesos and adds to previous efforts such as the construction of a multipurpose court, the renovation of restrooms and locker rooms, the execution of the Summer School program, and other sports workshops that have benefited the educational community over the past two years.

Oscar Hasbún, President of the CSAV Foundation, stated, “We are committed to improving the quality of life for students. We are already familiar with this community and its needs, which is why we have decided to continue our support by developing this project—something that both students and teachers have long dreamed of. By providing these spaces, which promote not only sports but also cultural activities, we can directly support these children, their families, and the community of this port city.”

Among the main improvements to the facility are the replacement of worn-out structures, painting of surfaces in the school’s colors, a new lighting system, and new equipment such as goalposts, basketball hoops, and nets, among other renovations.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of San Antonio, Constanza Lizana, members of parliament Luis Sánchez and Camila Rojas, and various municipal and business representatives from San Antonio, who were able to witness the transformation of the school’s spaces over the past years.

Just as with previous renovations, such as the multipurpose court in 2023, the newly refurbished gymnasium is part of the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to provide a better education for hundreds of students. Daniel Silva, Director of Padre André Coindre School, highlighted: “Thanks to the support of the CSAV Foundation, we now have spacious, high-quality areas that will allow us, as a school community, to come together and participate in various activities that we can now host in these facilities.”

Inter-School Championship Awards Ceremony

The ceremony also served as an opportunity to recognize the top teams in the CSAV Foundation’s U-14 Inter-School Futsal Championship. The tournament featured students from six local schools, with Coindre School emerging as the champions of the competition.

Representatives from the San Antonio Unido Football Club also attended the event, including the club’s Football Development Director, Jorge Ortiz, the youth team’s Head Coach, Guillermo Pérez, and two academy players, Bastián Carrasco and Hugo Vera, who presented the awards to the winning players.
